Cpl. August H. Nelson

My father, August H. Nelson, is a WWII veteran. After the war ended in Europe, he was sent to Holland to train for the Pacific front. During that training, WWII ended. The original 2”x3” photo was taken while he was in Holland.

Materials & Techniques

Digitally enlarged photo printed on cotton/linen canvas, silk organza, permanent ink, Misty Fuse, raw edge applique, embroidery thread, copper wire, machine quilted. Rusted washers were taken from my father’s shop, representing his lifetime career as a farmer.
